October 10- 17

First, grades for the class research project are posted online.
It's been some time, but here is a review of what we have been covering in class;
1.) Spurious Relationships
2.) Critical value tables
3.) significantt Testing
4.) Independent Samples t-test
5.) Between samples t-test
6.) Errors in hypothesis testing
7.) Alternative hypothesis
8.) Anova

For posting this week, I would like you to develop a hypothesis that can be tested from ANOVA. Make sure you have two independent variables that you suspect may have an interaction effect on your dependent variable.

How about a hypothesis to test respondant's perception of difficulty for an exam. The dependant variable would be the level of percieved difficulty. The independant variables could be class standing (freshman-senior) and degree of preparation (much studying-no studying).

A hypothesis to test would be working while attending college. The dependant variable would be working while attending college. The indepedant variable would be class standing ( freshman, sophomore, junior, senior, graduate, traditional student, non traditional student) and if the person lives alone or with a roommate.

A hypothesis to test with ANOVA could be happiness in college romantic relationships. The dependent variable would be the degree of happiness in the relationships. The independent variables could be distance between the two people involved in the relationship and the number of previous relationships a person has had.

How about a hypothesis that would test how satisfied you are with your academic advising. The dependent variable would be the level of satisfaction. The independent variable would be students (Kent State University) and where they get their advising from.

My hypothesis would be to test weight loss. The dependent variable would be specific amount of weight loss wanted. The two independent variables could be how much you work out per week and calorie intake a week.

Class standing(freshman-senior) and Study method(alone or in a group) will have no effect on the grade a student gets on a Communication Research Methods test(grade=dependent variable).
